Lakenvlei’s unique observatory is situated on the wetland and can be accessed from a bridge, suspended over the water. The observatory houses a computerised 12 inch Meade telescope.

Allow us to take you on a guided tour of the southern night sky. Up here in the bracing highlands of Mpumalanga, the air is crisp and clear and the stars snap into vivid focus, impossible in a city environment.

Sessions with our 12 inch Meade telescope are conducted on Saturdays, weather permitting, and need to be booked at reception.
